The ‘Chronicles of the Kings of Man and the Isles’ is a medieval Latin text and takes its name from the opening rubric: Incipiunt cronica regum mannie & insularum, however, the text itself bears no title.
Transcribed and translated with an introduction by George Broderick, the Chronicles narrate the activities of the Norse-Gaelic kings who ruled in the ‘Kingdom of the Isles’ and at times part of Ireland and Scotland. It tells of their dealings with the kings in Scotland, Ireland, England and Norway, as well as the affairs of Man itself.
