Nautical Museum Tour
Step aboard Castletown’s Maritime History!
Discover the captivating story of the Nautical Museum, tucked away beside the historic harbour in Castletown. Explore Captain George Quayle’s remarkable 18th-century private dock and boathouse, hear the stories of this family and the famous Peggy, and step inside the atmospheric historic cabin room and sailmaker’s loft.
With fascinating objects, hidden stories and, a glimpse into life at sea during the Georgian era, this is a must-see for anyone curious about the Isle of Man’s rich maritime past.
Tour Details:
- Wednesdays or Saturdays at 11am or 1pm
- Standard tour duration: 45 minutes
- Booking is essential for all participants
- All children (aged 16 and under) attending a session must be accompanied by an adult
Suitable for all ages, these tours are especially engaging for adults and children aged 10 and above.
Prices:
- Adults £11 – all visitors have the option to make a voluntary donation of £1.50 at point of booking
- Students: £5.50 (please present a current student card on arrival)
- Annual, Holiday or GO Explore Heritage Pass Holders: Free (please present valid card on arrival)
- Children up to the age of 18: Free
Group Discounts: Enjoy group discounts for pre-booked groups of 15 or more paying visitors when booked 7 days in advance, find out more.
Holiday & Annual Passes: Admission requires the production of a valid card, which is non-transferable and valid for the named person. ID may be requested. Free access is granted for 14 days from the first day of use on a Holiday Pass and one year (365 days) from the first date of use on an Annual Pass for Isle of Man residents.
Free Admission: Children under 18, persons accompanying a disabled visitor and holders of Go Explore Heritage also enjoy free admission. Entry is available to the named member only upon presentation of a valid membership card. Restrictions may apply. Please note: There are no concessions for Reciprocal Card Holders.
