Transport Links

When you arrive on the Isle of Man getting about is easy and convenient. Most road journeys can take a matter of minutes to under an hour, and regular bus services can take you to and from key locations on the Island.

There is of course more unique ways to travel, whether you journey south by steam train or take in Douglas Bay on the horse drawn tram. This guide will help you to get around and make the most of the Island’s transport services.

By car

The interactive map is the best way to get your bearings. Each of our historic attractions and museums pages provide a postcode making it easy to find with a sat nav, and we provide grid references to our ancient monuments.

By Bus

Heritage Railways

  • Victorian Steam Railway, for stops Douglas – Santon– Ballasalla – Castletown – Colby – Port St Mary – Port Erin.
  • The Manx Electric Railway for stops Douglas to Ramsey.
  • The Snaefell Mountain Railway for travel on the Snaefell Mountain Railway from Laxey.

Multi Journey Tickets

The GO Heritage Explore Card provides provides travel on Isle of Man Bus and Rail services, horse trams plus entry into all Manx National Heritage sites for 5 days from first date of use. Passes are available to purchase on our online shop.
