The Berk Farm Jet Necklace
Join Dr Rachel Crellin, Associate Professor of Archaeology at the University of Leicester, for a fascinating look at one of the most remarkable Bronze Age discoveries made on the Isle of Man.
Excavations just outside Kirk Michael between 2017 and 2022 uncovered an extraordinary burial at Berk Farm, including a beautifully crafted jet necklace and matching bracelet worn by the first person buried within the mound around 4,000 years ago.
But who was this person, and what can their jewellery tell us about life on the Isle of Man during the Bronze Age?
Rachel will share the latest research into the Berk Farm burial and its remarkable jewellery, exploring how the necklace and bracelet were made, where the materials came from and what they can tell us about the people, communities and connections of prehistoric Mann.
Discover the story behind this extraordinary archaeological find and find out what new research is revealing about one of the Isle of Man’s most fascinating Bronze Age burials.
