Lives at Sea Loan Box – Museum on the Move
The Isle of Man is deeply immersed in seafaring heritage through its boat-building, fishing, and folk customs.
This loan box contains genuine artefacts together with reproduction objects and study information to examine how the Irish Sea has profoundly influenced the island’s unique cultural heritage.
These objects explore cargo and crews, superstitions and shipwrecks, together with stories about the heroism of Manx people and the legacy of Sir William Hillary who petitioned the monarchy for a national lifeboat service.
