Summer Manx Cat Challenge Winners Announced

– Posted on Tuesday 12th December 2023

Manx National Heritage is pleased to announce Jack & Chloe Watson of Peel have jointly won the Manx Cat Summer Challenge held at Cregneash and The Grove over the summer holidays.

Jack, age 12 and Chloe, age 10 are now the proud owners of their own cuddly Manx kittens whom they chose to call Jaffa and Coco respectively. Also included in the prize were beautiful handmade feline themed wall hangings featuring the children’s names from local ceramist and artist Felicity Wood.

Delighted to come to the Manx Museum to collect their prize, Mum Claire Watson said:

I just wanted to say thank you for treating Jack and Chloe. They were super excited and their cats are hanging with pride. My Dad and I also got joy out of seeing them. Thank you again for running your brilliant treasure hunts!”

Visitors to Cregneash and The Grove were offered the opportunity to take part in a Manx Cat Challenge where they had to find 9 cats, each with their own Manx name, who were hiding around the sites.  Manx National Heritage worked with local artist Felicity Wood to design the trail which featured 18 uniquely hand painted cat portraits each with Manx names such as Graihagh, Kirree, Juan and Ean.

Jack and Chloe Watson’s entry was the lucky one to be drawn when the competition closed on September 8th.

Helen Ashcroft, Public Engagement Manager at Manx National Heritage said:

“Well done Jack and Chloe for finding cats and cracking the code, we hope you enjoy your bespoke ceramics from Felicity Wood designs and the cuddly Manx kittens, Jaffa and Coco. Also many thanks extended to everyone who took part in the Manx Cat Challenge over the summer holidays, we loved welcoming so many families to participate at the Grove and Cregneash.
