Manx National Heritage welcomes all budding athletes to take part in their annual sports day at Peel Castle on Thursday 2 August from 2pm-4pm. The family friendly sports day spectacular will feature firm favourites including the traditional egg ‘n’ spoon race, the sack race and a sprint finale. Each race will be organised by age group, including races for adults, and sign up will take place during the event.
Suzie Walker, Site Manager of Peel Castle for Manx National Heritage, commented:
“Our Sports Day has become a firm summer holiday favourite. We have the return of the ‘’Three Legs of Mann Race’, the ‘Balance Bonanza’ and a miscellaneous Fancy Dress Obstacle Course! Surely there is no harder sporting event on the Isle of Man this summer! And don’t worry parents the fun is not all aimed at children…we have races for you too. So lace up your trainers, grab your family, pack a picnic and come along for a fun filled afternoon.”
This year’s event is kindly supported by volunteers from Lloyds Bank and the Friends of Manx National Heritage.
Lucy Felton, Business Development Manager at Lloyds Bank International Limited said:
“We’re very happy to continue our support of what promises to be a really fun family day out and the colleagues attending are looking forward to spending the afternoon in such a beautiful setting. Manx National Heritage’s creativity and their ability to give Island residents the chance to not just learn more about our history and culture but to thoroughly enjoy themselves at the same time continues to impress and surprise me.”
The ‘Peel Castle Commonwhelk Games Sports Day Spectacular’ is a weather dependent event and will be cancelled in wet weather.
