Manx National Heritage seeks operator for the iconic Niarbyl café

– Posted on Wednesday 2nd September 2026

Manx National Heritage is inviting expressions of interest from experienced businesses and operators to take on the operation of the much-loved Niarbyl Café.

Set in one of the Island’s most iconic coastal locations, the Niarbyl Café has a long-standing reputation as a popular food destination. Overlooking the dramatic west coast and positioned above picturesque Niarbyl Bay, with its historic thatched cottages and internationally important geology, the café offers an exceptional setting for visitors and locals alike.

Following a period of refurbishment, Manx National Heritage is seeking proposals from passionate, creative and experienced individuals or teams with the vision to reopen and revitalise this popular venue. We welcome innovative proposals that will secure the best and most sustainable future for the café, while ensuring consistently high standards of food, customer service and hospitality. As a minimum, operators should demonstrate a strong commitment to quality and the use of locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.

The café currently comprises a main dining area, primarily at ground level, with a small mezzanine, toilet facilities, a kitchen area and access to outdoor grassed space enjoying panoramic views along the west coast and towards Ireland. A large car parking area is also available for visitors.

This is an outstanding opportunity for the right operator to build on an established and well-loved location, while bringing fresh ideas and energy to maximise the site’s potential.

Interested parties are invited to arrange a site tour and discuss their proposals with Manx National Heritage ahead of formal submission. The closing date for receipt of proposals is midnight on Friday 25th September 2026.
