Venues across the Island are set to welcome visitors for Heritage Open Days, the annual festival of discovery organised by Manx National Heritage.
The programme of events and activities for 2026 is now available, featuring a mix of exciting new additions and popular returning favourites.
Heritage Open Days brings together museums, societies, community groups, individuals and historic properties from across the Island to offer six days of completely free access, tours, guided walks and activities.
From 2 to 4 October and 9 to 11 October 2026, visitors can enjoy a range of new experiences, including:
- Exploring the work that takes place behind the scenes at Manx National Heritage
- Uncovering the curious connection between Cronk Howe Mooar (Fairy Hill) and the Bayeux Tapestry
- Taking a vintage bus tour with Bus Vannin and Jurby Transport Museum
- Discovering fascinating Stories in the Stones at Kirk Andreas, showcasing some of the Isle of Man’s most impressive medieval crosses
Visitors can also take part in popular returning events, including:
- Tours of Government House State Rooms
- Behind-the-scenes visits to the Gaiety Theatre
- Exploring the workshops and steam sheds of the Isle of Man Railway
- A special tour of Okell’s Brewery
Bookings open on Thursday 24 September 2026 at 12 noon, with tickets being available via manxnationalheritage.im. Early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.

“Now in its seventeenth year, this much-loved annual festival celebrates the Isle of Man’s unique history, culture and community spirit, offering behind-the-scenes access to remarkable places, special experiences and hidden stories. Many of the buildings and landmarks featured in the programme are not normally open to the public, making Heritage Open Days a truly unique opportunity for discovery.
