Museum on the Move Victorians Loan Box

The Victorian Life loan box contains original artefacts together with replica household and schoolroom objects.

Within the box you will find items which show a snapshot into how life was in the Isle of Man over 100 years ago.

Life in a Victorian home was very different to life in a modern one.  Your students can discover how labour intensive simple daily tasks, such as washing clothing, were within Victorian households. The everyday objects will promote discussion and enquiry about life in the past.

Find out how life for a Victorian child was compared to today, and some of the games they would have played.

Learn about the importance of the Laxey Mines and explore what was mined and produced there.
