“THE MEDICAL DISPENSARY, – The decease [death] of the late Matron of this charitable Institution (Mrs Martin), occasioned a special Meeting to be held at the Dispensary on Thursday last, for the purpose of filling up the vacancy. There were a number of competitors for the office, but the successful candidate was Miss Brannan. The Committee could not have made a more suitable selection, Miss Brannan having been long known and respected for her charitable attention to the sick and infirm poor of Douglas.”
