Manx National Heritage is reminding everyone to make the most of a spellbinding line-up of Hop tu Naa events taking place across the Isle of Man this October half term.
From celebrating the Island’s unique traditions at Cregneash to enjoying spooky film screenings at the Manx Museum, there’s plenty to choose from for families, children, and visitors of all ages.
At Cregneash, families can experience the magic of the annual Hop tu Naa Festival on Saturday 25 October, where Manx folklore comes alive through turnip carving, music, dancing, storytelling and seasonal treats.
For younger visitors, there’s a full week of hands-on fun and creativity:
- The Enormous Turnip, presented by Manx Family Concerts, on Sunday 26 October, brings a classic tale to life through music and storytelling.
- Turn Up for Turnips, running Monday 27 – Friday 31 October, invites families to enjoy the age-old Manx tradition of turnip carving – included with standard admission and free for children.
- Tiny Turnips Festival, on Wednesday 29 October, offers a gentle, seasonal celebration designed especially for children under 5.
Film fans can also get into the spooky spirit at the Spooky Little Screen series at the Manx Museum, featuring family favourites:
- The Addams Family – 27 October
- Hotel Transylvania – 29 October
- Hocus Pocus – 31 October

This year’s events offer something for everyone, whether you’re carving a turnip at Cregneash, watching a Halloween classic, or joining in a family performance.
