MWT Onchan Community Wetlands offer a small piece of wild in the heart of Onchan. Full of twisted willows, dangling ivy and deep swamps, this little site attracts an abundance of birds for its suburban location. Join the local community group managing the reserve for a morning of dawn chorus. Together we’ll listen to and record what we hear, as well as chat about the ongoing work taking place at the wetlands. Please bring binoculars if you have them and we recommend downloading the Merlin bird app, which is free and helps you to identify what you hear.
You can access the wetlands either via Church Road or Derwent Drive in Onchan. On road parking available. The site has limited access for wheelchairs. The full path around the wetlands is not wheelchair accessible, however the position of the event will be. Dogs on leads allowed. This event is free with no need to book. It is weather dependant, however, so please check the Manx Wildlife Trust Facebook page for any updates.
