Wildlife Photographer of the Year returning to the Isle of Man and photographers are invited to capture their own winning images

– Posted on Tuesday 4th August 2026

In December the internationally acclaimed Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition returns to the House of Manannan, and to celebrate, Manx National Heritage is inviting photographers of all ages and abilities to enter its very own Wild Mann Photography Competition.

Inspired by one of the world’s most prestigious wildlife photography exhibitions, Wild Mann encourages photographers to head outdoors and capture the Isle of Man’s extraordinary wildlife, landscapes and natural beauty. Whether you’re an experienced photographer, an enthusiastic amateur or simply enjoy taking photographs while exploring the Island, the competition offers the opportunity to showcase your creativity and celebrate the natural world.

Photographers from the Isle of Man and beyond are invited to submit their favourite images of the Island’s flora, fauna, coastlines and landscapes. From dramatic seabird colonies and elusive mammals to colourful fungi, underwater worlds and intricate macro photography, the competition celebrates the incredible diversity of Manx nature.

Laura McCoy, Curator for Natural History at Manx National Heritage said:

“Whether you’re capturing a fleeting moment with a puffin, the colours of a woodland fungus, the drama of the Island’s coastline or the hidden beauty beneath the waves, Wild Mann is your chance to share the Isle of Man’s natural wonders with everyone”.

Winning and highly commended images will be displayed in a new exhibition at the Manx Museum, opening in spring 2027. The overall winner will receive £250 vouchers to spend at Morrisons Photos, with entries judged on technical merit, composition, creativity and originality.

The competition celebrates the Island’s wild places and native wildlife. Images featuring farm animals or captive animals at the Wildlife Park (including feral goats, chickens and wallabies), family pets or cultivated plants are not eligible, and photographers must ensure that wildlife is never disturbed or harmed in pursuit of a photograph.

Entries should be submitted as high-quality JPEG images measuring at least 3000 pixels on the longest side or 180 pixels per inch (ppi). Images must not include borders, watermarks or signatures. Entries close 7 March 2027.

Full competition details and entry forms are available here. Completed entry forms and photographs should be submitted via https://wetransfer.com/ to photocomp@mnh.im.
