Using transcriptions and facsimiles of WW1 diaries, letters, newspaper articles and photos – the team invite you to discuss your own connections and stories and discover more about the Manx men, women and young people involved in the WW1 conflicts.
Photo – Matthew McCauley, who was born in Douglas, and grew up at 15 Big Well Street. During the First World War he volunteered to join the 11th battalion Manchester Regiment, one of the battalions of ‘Kitchener’s Army’ raised for war service. He was killed in action during the Third Battle of Ypres in the autumn of 1917.
