David Gilbert passionately believed everyone could be creative and helped many to discover their own creativity.
His work ranged from the small and delicate to the large and monumental but always explored the same immense themes of birth, love, death and the rhythms of the land.
This exhibition contains art from a lifetime of work and completes the artistic journey began with David Gilbert’s last exhibition in the Manx Museum in 1989. The exhibition is shown across two venues:
‘Crossing Open Ground David Gilbert (1928 – 2016) A Retrospective’ at the Manx Museum, 10 February – 5 May
‘Another Story About How It Is’ at the Sayle Gallery, 10 February – 18 March
