To mark the 100th birthday of the Manx Museum, the Isle of Man Post Office and Manx National Heritage present a celebration in ten stamps.
When the Manx Museum first opened its doors to the public on 2nd November 1922 it sought to engage and inspire its visitors with amazing artefacts. Manx National Heritage continues to preserve and protect the diverse collections held by the Manx Museum – from archives to art, archaeology, social history and natural history and to tell the rich stories of our Island, past and present. Throughout 2022 we will be exploring and sharing those extraordinary stories and celebrating our most precious objects and the incredible work of Manx National Heritage.
This issue highlights the variety of artefacts and fascinating objects accessible to visitors of the Museum, all with direct links to our Island’s history and heritage. During our centenary year, the community are invited to join the celebrations through 100 objects in the Museum 100 exhibition (opening October 2022), 10 of which are pictured within this stamp collection including:
